How To Get Your Groove Back: Recovering From Burnout.

Remember when you used to like your job?

Back when you felt accomplished,

enjoyed talking to your work friend over lunch,

or you were happy to make a difference?

Now you wonder what happened and how you ended up working so much.

You’re apathetic and anxious when you get to work, and exhausted and grouchy when you get home.

You dread the next day before you even make it to your car,

You feel like you’re always coming down with a cold,

Your headache just won’t quit, and what the heck is going on with your gut?!

Sleep would probably help,

but you keep thinking about all the stuff you have to do the next day

and you feel yourself already coming up with a plan to avoid it,

Which just makes you feel worse because you’re sure you’re failing,

and about to be fired…

Then you think maybe that’s not so bad.

… But the job market is insane!!

So you grab a glass of wine, your phone, and a box of cookies,

and head to the couch so you can forget it all for a while.

But nothing changes.

Because tomorrow morning, you wake up and do it all over again.

This is burnout and it will continue,

until you're too overwhelmed, anxious, sick, or depressed

and your body forces you to stop.

Or until you choose to step back.

To set and hold boundaries,

Even when you think those boundaries will upset someone else.

To let go of perfect,

And aim for progress.

To rest on purpose,

To connect with friends, family, nature, your spirit

And to leave work at work,

It’s that simple, but I know it’s not that easy.

I also know it’s possible and you really can

love your job again, or find a new career that you love,

You can create boundaries and habits that give you energy,

and make you a better parent, partner, and employee.

You can feel excited about your future, and

knock out anxiety and stress,

but you might have to ask for help so you can get clear on why you overwork, think you have to be perfect, say yes when you need to say no, and find what you like about your job...

Or what you like about finding something completely new.

To talk with me about how coaching will help,

As always,

<3 Megan

P.S. Stop letting anxiety determine what you can and can’t do. You can decide now to change how your body feels and how you respond when you're anxious. Are you ready?
