How to Trust Your Training Under Pressure: A Powerlifter's Comeback Story

I keep meeting people with stories that beg to be shared. If I were to guess, I bet you have a story too. (Even if you think you don't.)
This month, I'm sharing my conversation with Rick Ferrant, and I can't stop thinking about his doctors telling him,
*"Rick, we're in uncharted territory here."*
Never mind the part about winning on the national and international stage...
Tearing both hamstrings at once...
Or the fact that he's spent three decades as a journalist and author with more stories than he knows what to do with...
The part that gets me is this: he was just a guy who'd hit the gym here and there when it was easy, never for too long, until he decided to hire a personal trainer who promised to "train him before she broke him."
And he said yes!
I think a lot of us are standing in that very same spot right now.
You've been circling something for a while. You want it and maybe you'll commit when things calm down. Or when you feel more ready. Or when you've got more free time. Or....
I get it. Life is busy. But what if I told you that busy, messy, and overwhelmed is just your brain doing exactly what brains do. Coming up with one believable reason after another to keep you exactly where you are, all for the sake of staying comfortable and safe.
Rick talked about how to trust your training under pressure on the Peak Performance Mindset podcast: we have an incredible capacity for throwing negative what-ifs into the front of our mind right when we're closest to change.
*What if I'm not ready?*
*What if this doesn't work?*
*What if I look ridiculous for even trying?*
How to Trust Your Training Under Pressure When It Actually Matters
Rick handled it by running straight at the things that scare and challenge him most, staying curious, and saying,
"Let's see what happens."
It sure sounds a lot like my interview with Sav Wild! If an ultramarathoner, a power-lifter, and Nike can Just Do It, you can too. And, honestly, you've already started.
Most of us have already done the work of wondering about this. We've watched other people go first. What's left is a decision and curiosity.
How to Trust Your Training When It Actually Matters
I'm not writing this to call anyone out. I'm writing it because I believe most people are one conversation away from finally doing the thing they've been too scared to say yes to, and I'd love to be the person who gets to hear your story.
I offer a free Performance Audit: no pressure, no overwhelming pitch, just a real look at what's actually happening in your head that's helping you succeed, and what's keeping you stuck.
Change your "what if."
What if you're ready?
What if this works?
What if you make yourself proud?
