If I Just Sit Here, Nothing Will Happen

In all fairness and honesty, I'm bringing this blog back. I wrote it about four years ago over on my other place and decided that it is both nostalgic and pertinent for what's going on over here on 10,000 Swords. If you've already read it, take the time to read it again and really let yourself consider what you are working for in the moment... in the day... in the week... month... year... 10 years? What are you doing to yourself and for yourself? What does your community need? What does your school need? What about your family? What will make you grow and expand into the person that you were born to be and why aren't you doing it right now?

Here we go. This was in my head on August 13, 2015.

"If I just sit here nothing will happen. That could be a good thing or a bad thing and right now it feels a little of both. I really need to get my butt up and in the shower to get to work, but the house is quiet with four kids out the door to school. There is still sticky something on my kitchen floor and a mountain of laundry. Never mind that I need to dust and the sound of silence is glorious. I don't want to move from this spot for a while but I really do need to get up and moving.

Do you ever just sit and breathe for a few minutes to try to relax and realize the more you look around, the more you feel like you might explode because there are so many things you need to get done? It is overwhelming. I could spend the entire day cleaning and organizing this place and it REALLY needs to get done, but I have to go to work because bills aren't going to pay themselves. It all seriously stresses me out and causes enormous amounts of snappy, grouchy, anxiety. I am definitely not pleasant to be around.

Every time I get growly about all of this life stuff, I have to remind myself that it could be so much worse. I could be working full-time and not making ends meet. I could not have a job at all. I could not have a house. I could not have kids, or a husband who loves me, or food to eat. There are a million little blessings to be thankful for and I forget them all in a flash but, all of a sudden, its less overwhelming and a little more in check - even with the crumbs from breakfast on the counter and all the other things I need to get done. I am enjoying the silence this morning and being grateful instead."

I read that and remember that time in my life. I still feel it occasionally; that feeling like you can't go fast enough or get enough done. Like you'll never catch up or be good enough. Like it all has to happen right now. I have good news for you - I am well on my way to not feeling like that anymore. I have grown and expanded my appreciation and understanding of how to handle moments like this where you just want to sit and not do anything because you can't get ahead, and you can do the same. If you struggle to find the good stuff going on or to figure out where to begin, you already know! If you want to change your focus or your career or your health, you can and you have the power inside you! Sometimes all you need is support and accountability and that's where I step in. I hope you will take a quick minute to join my site. If you're ready to take that first step forward into greatness, email me and let's set up time to talk. Everything you want is right there. Take a step forward today because if you just sit there, nothing will happen.
